The Draen bed & breakfast and the Brecon Beacons has much to offer walkers, cyclists, artists, photographers and those that just want to get away from it all for a few days or longer.

If you love walking, staying at The Draen makes a fantastic base with walks straight from the front door. 
Within minutes you'll find yourself immersed in the heart of beautiful countryside finding peace and tranquility as you feel the stress of modern life drifting away. 

If you'd like to find out more about walking in the Brecon Beacons, the Brecon Beacons National Park visitors centre is not too far away and has plenty of information on walks, wildlife and also serves a great lunch.

Abergavenny
For those that love exploring the towns and villages, a short 30 minute drive away is the town of Abergavenny Known as the gateway to Wales, there are many well known shops as well as independent traders offering unique goods to catch the eye. 

For a well deserved coffee and a cake, Abergavenny is blessed with its fair share of bakeries and coffee bars offering delicious lunchtime snacks.

Abergavenny also has two market days, Friday and Saturday. Friday being the indoor only market and Saturday's market has a mix of indoor and outdoor stalls, over 100 to be precise.
Brecon
The nearest town with shops and restaurants to The Draen is Brecon, only 10 minutes drive away and boasting three large supermarkets along with many restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. 

Full of character and history it should be on your list to visit rain or shine.
Abergavenny

Is only 5 minutes down the road with its village feel and free parking, a new sandwich shop is due to open shortly ideal for pack lunches. You can visit the restored mill and have a freshly made coffee in the cafe. 

For those that want to stretch their legs, why not visit the Pwll-y-Wrach Nature Reserve with its many short walks and the famous Witch's Pool, recently featured on Countryfile.
Llangorse Lake
For those that love the lure of water, Llangorse Lake is only a 10 minute drive away. Here you'll find a variety of water sports from sailing to water skiing and also other activities like horse riding, bird watching, star gazing, wildlife spotting to name a few.   

There are dedicated activity centres around the lake so you're sure to find something of interest.
